For several years now, the students of Tacdugan Elementary School have been crowding into classrooms with two different year levels sharing one classroom. Imagine two teachers in one classroom teaching two different lessons to two sets of students?
From 24 July to 2 August 2012, four students from Penang International School with the support of AXIATA and QUEST EXPEDITIONS worked with Ticao Island Resort to build two classrooms for Tacdugan Elementary School. To make this project even more meaningful, JCI PHILIPPINES (CAPITOL CHAPTER) and HEATHCOTE PUBLIC SHOOL AUSTRALIA students and parents supported the project financially to contribute to expenses. With everyone?s effort not only were we able to complete the two classrooms, but all 430 students were given school bags with school supplies, and a wonderful party with the whole community of Tacdugan to inaugurate the new classrooms.
Special thanks to the principal of Tacdugan Elementary School, Vicente, and to Ticao Island Resort?s resort manager, Vicky, for rallying the parents to help construct the classroom at no pay and just for meals provided by the resort. A huge thank you to the parents and the community that were all so willing to support this project. A loud round of applause to everyone for such a great accomplishment!
